Tuesday - Thursday Weekly Ride:

7:15 Tuesday and Thursday: Ride leaves from The Blue Moon Café near the Oceanfront at Holly and Pinewood Rds (1 block north of Laskin and Holly) for a 15 mile warm up to Conte's on Laskin Road arriving in time for the 8:00 ride.  Don't forget we have a "5 minute rule" so if you're not there and ready for go at by 7:20 you will be left behind.  This ride is steady and fast (often very fast, with average speeds during the season between 25-30).  This ride will go until it's too dark to start.  Contact BJ Samuel for information.

8:00 am Tuesday & Thursday:  Rides leave Conte's when the 7:15 ride arrives which is usually about 8:05.  We do a modified Conte's loop, taking Hilltop and Wolfsnare roads instead of the usual First Colonial/Mill Dam route, to avoid Cape Henry Collegiate School traffic. From Great Neck Road we do the usual loop down Shore Drive and Atlantic Avenue before heading into Bay Colony at 49th street and doing a big counterclockwise loop along Bayshore drive, ending at the Blue Moon restaurant at Holly Rd and Pinewood Rd (1 block north of Laskin Rd).  The mileage of the ride to that point is approximately 17 miles.  At this point some people ride the 3 miles back to the store, and the rest of us do a reverse loop (another 17 miles) .   The speed varies between A++ and B pace depending on who shows up and what their training agenda is for the day.  Often the ride splits into 2 groups with a 26-30 mph group and a 22-26 mph pack. There is one regroup about 5 mi into the ride, and a sort of rolling regroup once we enter Bay Colony and the pace slows. Occasionally, the reverse loop back from Blue Moon to Contes is used by team members for some interval training. Ride always ends at Paneras at Hilltop (1 block from Contes) for coffee/bagels with free refills. The ride usually proceeds in all but the foulest weather.  Contact Jeff Lawson for information.
